Teddy M. Liwienski

Teddy M. Liwienski, age 84, of Caseville, died suddenly Thursday, August 10, 2005 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon.

Teddy was born July 26, 1921 in Detroit to the late Martin and Ursula (Misiak) Liwienski and grew up in Detroit. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II in the Pacific Theater. He married Genevieve Zaleski of Detroit on April 24, 1948 at St. Florian Catholic Church in Hamtramck. Genevieve preceded him in death on August 24, 1994.

Teddy retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Detroit as district procurement manager. He was a general manager, treasurer, and on the Board of Directors for the Detroit Postal Employee Credit Union. He was a life member and past post commander of the AmVets #49 in Detroit, life member of the VFW Bruce Post in St. Clair Shores, member of the Caseville Eagles #3690, and St. Roch Catholic Church. A talented builder, carpenter and all around handyman, Teddy began building his home in Caseville in the 1960's with his brother Cass. He permanently moved to Caseville and into that home in 1994. Teddy was known for his wit and his ability to colorfully tell a story.

Teddy is survived by his children Michael (Cindy) of Warren, Karen (Jack) Hettrick of Richmond and Jim (Debra) of Canton; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sophia (Edmund) Szajna of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his wife Genevieve, sister Wanda Leiman, and brothers Henry and Casimir (Cass).

A Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM Monday, August 15th at St. Roch Catholic Church, Caseville, with Fr. Ken Yaroch presiding. Burial with military honors will be in St. Roch Cemetery.

Visitation will be 1-5PM Saturday and Noon-7:00PM Sunday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville and on Monday from 10:00AM until the time of Mass at church. There will be an Eagle’s Ritual at 6:00PM Sunday and a Rosary at 7:00PM Sunday.
