Teddy Walter Pelica, went home to be with our Lord Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at the age of 77. He passed away peacefully at his home overlooking his beautiful river, surrounded by his family. Teddy was born on February 3, 1930 in Akron, the son of the late Walter and Josephine (Zelenka) Pelica. He was united in marriage to Doris Dean in 1951. Walter served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a longtime member of the Vassar Eagles. After retiring from Eaton Corportation in Vassar after thirty years, he retired to his cabin in Grayling where he worked for the National Guard for five years. He was an avid bowler and golfer. Walter also enjoyed fishing, working in his flowers, and watching all sports. He loved talking with his wife over coffee while watching the birds and wildlife on the river. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Teddy is survived by his wife, Doris (Dean) Pelica; four children and their spouses, Sherry Pelica, Kathy & Roy Jobson, Paul & Mary Pelica and Kimberly & Jerry Thorp; seven grandchildren, Julie, Melanie, Christopher, Tyler, Joseph, Abby and Riley and six great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward Hinson; sister-in-law, Kathleen Dean and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Frank Dean and a sister-in-law, Betty Hinson.
