Thelma I. Gaeth

Thelma I. Gaeth,  age 94 of Sebewaing, went to be with her lord and savior on Monday, August 26, 2019, peacefully in her home at Medallion Village surrounded by her loving family.

She was born December 18, 1924 in Koylton Township to the late Lowell and Florence (Moshier) Sickler, and graduated from Cass City High School in 1942. She married the love of her life, Norbert Gaeth of Unionville, in 1948.

Thelma was an elementary school teacher, beginning her career at Palmer School in Argyle for 3 years. (Thelma had once attended Paul School, south of Cass City(also a small one-room school)  She taught in Sandusky for 2 years and in Sebewaing for 30 years, where she is fondly remembered by her many students. She was an enthusiastic bowler, and won many awards. She had been a member of the American Legion Post #293 Auxiliary of Sebewaing. She enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, playing cards, games, reading stories and poems. She also donated her time helping the Opportunity Shop in Leesburg, Florida.

Thelma is survived by her children Neil (Crystal) Gaeth of Sebewaing and Sharon (Aaron) Anthes of Gagetown. Three grandchildren Jonathan (Ashley) Gaeth of Essexville, Staci Gaeth (John) of Farwell and Jordan Gaeth of Sebewaing, two great granddaughters Allie and Madison Gaeth, two sisters Ellen Beach (Stan) of Florida and Emma Jane Frank of Big Rapids, two sister-in-law's, Maxine Sickler and Jo Sickler, loving nieces and nephews and numerous loving friends.

Preceding her in death were her husband Norbert Gaeth of Sebewaing, her parents Lowell and Florence Sickler and three brothers, Roy, Lowell "Bud" and Gene.

Funeral services will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Sebewaing, on Thursday, August 29, 2019. Visitation will be at 10:00 A.M. until service begins at 11:00 A.M.

Memorial donations may be given to Trinity United Methodist Church or American Legion Post #293 Auxiliary of Sebewaing.
