Thelma Ruth Trudeau, age 88, of Caro passed away on Friday, December 3, 2010. She was born Thelma Ruth Capling in Caro on April 26, 1922, and was a graduate of Caro High School. She worked in a variety of local businesses, including Esthers, her mothers flower shop. After marrying Robert Trudeau, she and her husband owned and operated Trudeaus Mens Store. She also decorated cakes at Trudeaus Bakery in Caro for years. Her husband Robert preceded her in death on December 19, 1969. Later, she was employed by the Department of Social Services until her retirement. She loved writing poetry and short stories, becoming a published novelist. She was also a talented artist and loved the out-of-doors. Thelma was a very caring and giving person and was very dedicated to her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling up north, playing poker, hunting and fishing. She especially liked the holidays with family members. She also enjoyed interior decorating and trips with her family to go shopping. She loved music and stayed very current on the new trends. She is survived by two children, one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Lynette Trudeau of Caro, a daughter and son-in-law, Tamara and Jerry Ebenhoeh of Frankenmuth; as well as a brother and his wife, Bob and Irene Capling of Vassar. She was preceded in death by a sister, Eva Capling; and two brothers, Philip Capling, Sr. and Jack Capling. Thelma was a devoted mother and grandmother that loved being around her grandchildren, Rawnee Trudeau Anderson and her husband Mike Anderson of Hinckley, Illinois, Kevin Trudeau of Caro, and Derric and Kristy Becker and their family of Wilmington, North Carolina. She also loved and enjoyed all of her step-grandchildren and their families including Lori and Mile Dole of Essexville, Kim and Bruce Weiss of Bay City and Cindy and Mike Rogers of Frankenmuth. She also kept a special place in her heart for all of her step-great-grandchildren. Thelma loved her many nieces and nephews. THE FAMILY WOULD LIKE TO THANK NANCY BENNETT AT THAT TOUCH OF CLASS FOR THE WONDERFUL CARE THAT THELMA RECEIVED FOR THE LAST FEW YEARS. Funeral services will be held at Collon Funeral Home on Thursday, December 9, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Kucharczyk, Church of the Sacred Heart, officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Collon Funeral Home on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Caro Area District Library, 840 W. Frank St., Caro, MI 48723
