Thomas Dean Barrons of Southwest Harbor, Maine, formerly of Kingston, age 60 passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Mt. Desert Island Hospital in Bar Harbor, Maine. Thomas was born January 26, 1961 in Caro, Michigan, the son of the late Jim and Joyce Barrons. Tom spent all of his childhood years in Kingston, where he attended school from kindergarten through his senior year. He graduated from Kingston High School in 1979. While attending school he was a member of the KHS band, marching and jazz bands and honor guard. He attended the Kingston United Methodist Church. Tom was active in the boy scouts and was also a member of Demolay. Thomas married Tammy Bills in 1987 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Fairgrove, Michigan. They made their home on Anna Maria Island, Florida. They were married for 27 years. While living in Florida, Tom worked in the screen-printing industry in Lakeland and Sarasota and was the production manager. His clients included NASA, Disney, and the movie industry, which they received many national awards for printing excellence. He was a member of the Westcoast Church in Parrish, Florida and played in the church band several times a week. Music was a big part of Tom's life. He began in high school after purchasing his first set of drums and playing with friends from around town. Later he played with several other groups, including Windfall from Cass City. After moving to Florida, he played with various groups that played, rock, blues, jazz and country. Groups included award winning County Pride and rock star legend Rick Derringer (formally of the McCoys.) Tom was also a DJ for celebrations and events in the area. He was an instructor for line dancing for country music and donated his time to provide lighting and sound services for the Lakeland Art Guild. Tom was active in the Lake Huron Area Boy Scouts when he was young and especially liked camping adventures, including the Polar Bear and Klondike. His interest in camping adventures continued the rest of his life. He loved the great outdoors, nature and wildlife. While living on the edge of Acadia National Park, he went on many day hikes exploring and photographing its beauty. His backpack was always full of gear and ready for his next adventure. Tom loved island life, and for a large part of his life, he lived on Anna Maria Island, where he enjoyed the beaches, the sunsets, the ocean breeze. He and his wife, Tammy, took many boat cruises to nearby islands, exploring for treasures and enjoying the wildlife. Cooking was one of Tom's favorite pastimes. He prided himself on making some great dishes using his old cast iron skillet. His mother, who was a professional cook, taught him many of the basics when he was younger. In time, he was sharing many of his great recipes with her. Tom is survived by his loving brothers, Ron (Carmen) Barrons of Marlette, Kevin (Amy) Barrons of Grand Rapids, Sister, Joyce Henderson Ross of Boynton Beach, Florida; nieces, Vanessa Barrons and Bryan Doody of Marquette, Michigan, Amanda (Eric) Brinkmann of St. Charles, IL., Casey (Devon) Blair of Indianapolis, IN; nephews, Joshua (Laura) Barrons of Haslett, MI, Jordan Barrons of Battle Creek, MI, Kyle (Amelia) Barrons of Woodbury, MN., Tammy Bills of Akron, MI., special friend, Pamela Walker of Venice, FL. He was proceeded in death by his father, Jimmie R. Barrons; mother, Joyce M. (Wilmot) Barrons. In keeping with Tom's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Dr. William Sanders officiating.
