Thomas F. Cain

Thomas F. Cain, age 87, of Cass City, died Thursday afternoon, August 1, at St. Joseph Hospital, Mt. Clemens.
He was born December 21, 1914, in New York City to the late Thomas and Mary (Ryan) Cain.
On May 4, 1940, he was united in marriage to Teresa C. Furlong at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, Queens, NY. She preceded him in death January 26, 1991.
Mr. Cain was employed at Steinway Transit in 1939. In 1943, he was called to serve in the US Army during WW II. On his return he continued with Steinway until retiring in 1979 and moving to Florida near Homosassa. The past several years his heath failed and he move to Cass City with his daughter.
He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Crystal River, FL and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bad Axe. He was a life member of VFW Post #6478, Bellerose, NY and the 32nd Division Veteran Assn.
Surviving are twin daughters, Bernadette Cain of Cass City, MI and Frances (Kevin) Carpenter of Massapequa Park, NY; two grandchildren, Christopher and Colleen.
A brother, Andrew and a sister, Mary Josephine (Lemmon) McPherson preceded him in death.
Funeral services and burial will be in New York City on Tuesday. Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 4 to 8 PM Friday, August 2. In lieu of flowers or memorials the family requests that you do an act of kindness for someone.
