Thomas Cottick, age 84, of Caseville, died Monday morning, May 19, at Huron Medical Care Facility, Bad Axe.
He was born April 24, 1919, in Manitoba, Canada to the late Stanley and Molly (Godick) Cottick and moved from Canada to Detroit in his youth and then to Bad Axe in the early thirties.
On May 21, 1945, he was united in marriage to Ann J. Danyluk in Detroit.
He served in the US Marines as a Sargeant during WWII. He was wounded while serving in the South Pacific, Iwo Jima and Sai Pan and received 3 silver stars for his heroic part in those battles. After the service he worked for the Tribune as a typesetter several years. In 1948, he worked as a service and parts manager for Bulen Motors, Cass City until 1957. At that time he came to Caseville where he was a land developer, real estate agent and contractor, retiring in 1982 for health reasons. He was a past member of the Caseville American Legion, the Tip of the Thumb VFW, always having attended the 4th Marine Division reunions and was a big supporter of the Military and Space Museum in Frankenmuth where some of his memorabilia is on display.
Surviving are his wife, Ann; his son, John (Coleen) Cottick of Caseville and one daughter, Linda (Thomas) Bukoski of Ubly; five grandchildren, Billie Lynn, Connie, Clint, Colby and Jamie, four great-grandchildren, Keagan, Jeffery Mikayla and
Lauren; one brother, Steve (Sylvia) Cottick, Caseville and one sister, Mary (Harold) Gerstenschlager of McMinnville, TN.
In keeping with his wishes there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be conducted 1:00 PM Thursday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Caseville with burial in the Caseville Twp. Cemetery.
