Thomas Edward Defoe of Saginaw, formerly of Bay City, age 77, went peacefully to be with his Lord on Sunday, February 2, 2020. Tom was born September 21, 1942 in Bay City, the son of the late Thomas Joseph and Marjorie (Germain) Defoe. He held bachelor degrees from both Hillsdale College and Saginaw Valley State University. He was united in marriage with Ginny Gromek on June 16, 1962 in East Lansing. Tom's professional career began with the family business, Defoe Shipbuilding Company in Bay City, then as Quality Engineer at Eaton Manufacturing Company in Saginaw. Most recently, he was the principle at Thomas Defoe Tax Accounting. His faith was non-denominational, and his enjoyment came from his grandchildren, playing golf and tennis. Tom was especially loyal to his family and in-laws. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ginny; two sons, Thomas John & Lisette Defoe of Saginaw, David Defoe of Bay City; four grandchildren and their spouses, Karyn & Jesse Aguilera, Channing Defoe, Shawna & Rafael Caetano, Sharah Defoe; three great-grandchildren, Keoni, Kaleo, Alev Anabela; one sister, Kathy (Defoe) Pilditch of Fenton; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by one sister, Jill (Defoe) Moran. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Glory House International Ministries of Saginaw Valley Community Church, 3660 Hermansau, Saginaw, MI 48603, with Pastor Brenda Nolish officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Glory House International Mission Fund or Covenant Hospice.
