Thomas E. Orzel

Thomas E. Orzel of Unionville, age 71, passed away peacefully at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility on Thursday, November 19, 2014, following a brief illness. Tom was born November 22, 1942 in Gagetown, the son of the late Walter & Victoria (Solecki) Orzel and was a lifelong area resident. Tom was united in marriage with Jeanette Sharp on March 7, 1964 in Gagetown. She survives him. Tom was employed with Consumers Energy as a mechanic in Bay City and Midland for forty years, retiring in 2008. He was a member of St. Christopher Parish, the Caro Sacred Heart Campus and a member of the Tri-County Harley Davison Owners Group. During his free time, Tom enjoyed being with his family, working on his small farm, traveling, camping, hunting, fishing and being with his dog, Buddy. Tom is survived by his loving wife of over fifty years, Jeanette Orzel of Unionville; three children, Edward and his wife, Wendy Orzel of Sebewaing, Tammy Wascher of Bay City, Mark Orzel of Unionville; one grandson, Nathan Wascher of Marquette; one brother, Victor & Gerry Orzel of Sebewaing; one sister, Joan & David Cowell of Gwinn and five nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Campus in Caro with Rev. Dennis Kucharczyk officiating. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:30 a.m. A Rosary Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or to St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Campus.
