Thomas Harold Rose, 84, of Caseville, died Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at his home while under hospice care.
Tom was born July 21, 1930 in Detroit to the late Harold and Lillian (Schneider) Rose. He graduated from Detroit Denby High School in 1949 and Michigan State University in 1954. He served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956. He married Sandra Cork on September 14, 1992 at Calvary Baptist Church in Caseville.
After leaving the army Tom began a 30 year teaching career in Saginaw Public Schools, retiring in 1986. After retirement he moved from Saginaw to Caseville. He was a former member of the Caseville Village Council and a current member of the Caseville Eagles Club. He enjoyed golf, puttering around the house and yard, traveling, and spending the winter in Arizona.
He is survived by his wife Sandra; step-children Michael (Dawn) Atwood of Kinde; Ronald (Patricia) Atwood of Caseville and Paul (Rochelle Arntz) Howells of Bad Axe; 8 step-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchilden; and cousins Evelyn Kraft of Marlette, Irene Bullock of Clinton Twp, and Robert (Shirley) Schneider of Traverse City.
A memorial service will be at 1:00 pm Friday, August 1st at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville. Military honors will be provided by the Caseville American Legion. Visitation will be from 11:00am until the time of the service.
