Thomas Fred Simon, age 69, of Caro, passed away on January 13, 2010 at his home. He was born on November 24, 1940 at Brown City to the late Melvin and Irene (Finney) Simon. Tom lived in a number of locations, coming to Caro and marrying Jeannette (Cross) Shaver on August 1, 1985 in Caro. He graduated from high school in Brown City, and then took trade school classes in mechanics. During his working career, he drove semi and was a diesel mechanic, working on heavy equipment. He enjoyed working on race cars, auto body, fishing, gardening and tending to his birds. He is survived by his wife, Jeannette Shaver-Simon; four children, Rod (Rose) Simon of Attica, Dottie Simon and Rob Royce of Burton, Tina (Greg) Planck of Cass City and Rhonda (Mike) Sattelberg of Caro; fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Ann; his extended family, Arnold Federico of Tucson, Arizona, Walt Proctor of Kingston, John Bracamonte of Tucson, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, John; and a brother, Melvin Simon, Jr. In accordance with Toms wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Cameron Steele, officiating. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Saturday, January 23, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
