Thomas Tipton "Tip" Summersett

Thomas Tipton "Tip" Summersett of Caro, age 78, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at his home. He was born May 1, 1940 in Flint, the son of the late August and Dorothy (Bell) Summersett. Tom was a man with many facets; a phenomenal husband, fabulous and dedicated father, and awesome grandpa and great-grandpa. In other words, family was of the utmost importance to him. He was an integral part of our extended family; brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews always looked forward to seeing him at family gatherings. He was united in marriage with the former Barbara Hiser on April 6, 1963 in Caro, and she survives. Tom worked for GM Pontiac Motors Division for twenty-eight years, operating a shuttle van service from Caro to Pontiac assisting with the long commute and building relationships with co-workers that would last a lifetime. Tom was always a man building and fixing things. He loved camping, bonfires, hunting and gardening. His "famous" homemade sauerkraut was always a must at any family gathering. In a nut shell, he was a jack of all trades and master of none, but to his family he was the master. His pole barn was his palace. If you needed something he most likely would have it. He never wanted to get rid of anything because someone might be able to use it. If you need nails, screws, wiring, wood plugs, plumbing, car parts, call Tom. He was always just a phone call away to help. Even leading up to his last days, he was having carpet laid, light fixtures installed with various other projects completed. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Barbara Summersett; children and spouses, Rob & Dee Ann Summersett, Chris & Kim Summersett, Kevin Summersett & Denise Debolt, Alisha Summersett, Marc & Sue Summersett; fourteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings and spouses, Dale & Barb Summersett, Nancy & Richard Bills, Janet Currell, Belle & Ken Knoblock, Diane Robinson; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Rex Summersett. In keeping with Tom's wishes, cremation has taken place.
