Thomas S Wilson

Thomas S. Wilson age 88, of Chandler Twp. near Caseville, passed away Monday morning, September 5, at McLaren, Bay Region, Bay City.

He was born November 24, 1927 in Detroit to the late William and Margaret (Gilhespy) Wilson. In 1945, he was inducted into the US Navy.

On June 14, 1947, he was united in marriage to Thelma I Schubach in Romeo. When he returned from the service, he was employed seven years with Dale Losey Cartage. Tom changed jobs and was the fleet mechanic for Ira Wilson and Sons Dairy for 28 years, retiring in 1984. That year they moved to the family farm house in Chandler Twp., spending six months of the year at their winter home in Harlingen, TX.

Tom was a member of Hayes United Methodist Church, Caseville Eagles Club and Roundalab. He and Thelma loved to dance, especially square dancing, belonging to a group here in the Thumb as well as in Texas. While in Texas, he worked the Square dance program, queing (calling) the round dance for 17 years, leaving it when he turned 80.

Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Thelma; children, Tom (Karen) Wilson of Canton, Tim (Barbara) Wilson of Glen Burnie, MD, Nancy (Don) Perfetto of South Lyon, Jim (Nancy) Wilson of San Antonio, TX and Dave (Michelle) Wilson of Vancouver, WA; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and in-laws, Mike Cayley of Barrington, IL and Christine Wilson of Rockwood.
Preceding him in death were siblings, John Wilson, Catherine Cayley, Margaret and husband, Ike Jones.

A memorial service will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, September 10 at Hayes United Methodist Church. Rev. Matthew Chapman, pastor will officiate with interment in the Caseville Twp. Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of services.
