Timothy M. Sheridan

Timothy M. Sheridan of Caro, age 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 20, 2015 at Medilodge in Cass City. Tim was born September 4, 1933 in Flint, the son of the late Timothy & Helen (Atherholt) Sheridan, and graduated from Fairgrove High School with the class of 1951. Following his graduation, he began work on the family farm and with DeFoe Ship Builders in Bay City. In 1953, he was drafted to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict where he was stationed in Alaska as a medic. Following his honorable discharge, Tim began work building water towers, an occupation that led him to travel to many cities across the United States. It was during this time that a blind date in Pittsburg would lead to a fifty-five year marriage with the love of his life, the former Doris LaFountain, that began in Mooers Forks, New York on August 29, 1959. The newlywed couple moved back to Tim's family farm in Caro where Tim also began work with Saginaw Products as a machinist. He later became a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Reese, then Fairgrove, and was eventually appointed in 1968 by President Lyndon B. Johnson to serve as the Fairgrove Postmaster, retiring in 1995. Tim was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Caro, Caro Knights of Columbus #3224 and its 4th Degree Color Corps, Holy Trinity Assembly 2013, and the Fairgrove VFW where he served on the color guard and as its chaplain. His life was built around family and hard work. An avid hunter, talented welder, woodworker and gardener, Tim also loved traveling and camping with family and friends. His spare time would often be spent volunteering for his beloved Knights of Columbus and VFW. Tim is survived by four children and their spouses, Timothy L.
