Ursula Nitzko, age 75, of Caseville, died suddenly October 2, 2005 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon.
Ursula was born May 27, 1930 in Pomehraen, Germany to the late Arthur and Elfrieda (Marx) Kropp. She immigrated to the US in 1952, settling in Detroit. She married Hans Wolfgang Nitzko of Berlin, Germany on October 27, 1955. Together they raised their family, living in St. Clair Shores then later in Romeo. Having had a cottage in Lake Township for many years, they moved there permanently in 1987. The past seven years they have wintered in Naples.
Ursula was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Caseville and the Henderson Creek Club in Naples. She enjoyed knitting, crafting and especially gardening in her yard. Ursula and Hans celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a party on Labor Day at the Caseville Eagle’s Club.
Ursula is survived by her husband Hans; son Berndt of Shelby Township and daughter Heidi and her husband Rick Stricklin of Livonia; grandchildren Corine, Shana, and Jesse Stricklin all of Livonia; sisters Gertrud Muëller of East Germany, Irmgard (Lonnie) Mallouk of Florida, Laura Dorband of Caseville and Günter (Janet) Kropp of Metamora.
She was preceded in death by her sister Erna Bartsch.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Caseville, with Pastor Jim Nihiser officiating. Burial will be at Glen Eden Cemetery East in Macomb Township.
Visitation will be from 2-8 PM Thursday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Caseville and on Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at church.
Memorials may be made to the church.
Hans W. Nitzko died May 30, 2008. Funeral arragements were handled by the Wujek-Calcaterra Funeral Home in Sterling Heights. He was buried beside his wife.
