Veda Reid

Veda M. Reid, age 80 years, of West Congress St., Caro, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. She was born on July 16, 1925, in Caro, the only daughter of Sela (Chum) and Lillie Lobdell. Veda was a 1943 graduate of Caro High School, and on October 6, 1943, she married Robert E. Reid at the Caro Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on May 21, 2003. She assisted her husband with the operations of Reids Auto Repair from 1962 until 1970 when she began working part time for Federal Crop Insurance. In 1975 she was employed full time by Tuscola County Department of Public Works until her retirement in 1991. She was a member of Versatile Club, Wixsom Club, Business and Professional Women, Tuscola County DPW Board and Caro United Methodist Church. In later years Mrs. Reid attended the First Baptist Church of Caro with her family. Veda enjoyed her home and family and cherished friends. Veda is survived by two daughters, Debra Forshee and husband, John, of Caro, and Dianne Kreh of Lake Odessa; two grandsons, Ben (Sharon) Forshee of Beaver Creek, Ohio, and Nick (Julia) Forshee of Saginaw; two granddaughters, Kara and Traci Kreh of Lansing; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Reid Forshee; and a brother, Forrest Lobdell and wife, Mary Lou, of Caro. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Jay, Frank and Herbert Lobdell. The funeral will be held at the First Baptist Church of Caro on Saturday, March 11, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ronald Wigand officiating. Following cremation, burial will be at Indianfields Township Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Friday, March 10, 2006, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorials to Caro United Methodist Church or the Caro First Baptist Church.
