Velma Darlene Harder, 70 of Bay Port, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital.
She was born in Fort St. John, British Columbia, Canada on May 10, 1945 to Verne W. and Velma L. (Anderson) Edsall, and graduated from Bay City Handy High School. On February 10, 1968 she was united in marriage to Elmer J. Harder in Bay Port. He preceded her in death on July 13, 2012.
Darlene was a homemaker throughout her lifetime, and worked at the Bay Port Hotel for a short while. She was "mom" to many in the Bay Port community, as well as a favorite aunt to many. Darlene loved to fish and hunt, and was a great pool player. She loved her dog and cat, and had many friends.
Her survivors include a sister, Carolyn Nellett of Pinconning, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Elmer and her parents, Darlene was predeceased by a brother, Verne D. Edsall.
The Funeral Service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2015 at the Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home, Pigeon, with Pastor Wayne Keim officiating. Burial will be in New Bay Port Cemetery.
