Velma Arlene Sattler, age 78, of Caro, passed away at her residence on Saturday, September 29, 2007. The former Velma Ewald was born in Unionville to the late Aaron and Twila Ewald. Velma was a Caro High School graduate and on June 18, 1949 she married Jacob Sattler at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Unionville. The Sattlers moved to Caro in the late 1960s. She was employed first at Thumb Laundry and then worked as a cook at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility until her retirement. Velma was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro, the Tuscola County Polish-American Club and the K of C Senior Citizens Club. She loved putting picture puzzles together, word search and playing cards. She deeply enjoyed activities involving her family. In addition to her husband, Jacob, she is survived by three sons, two daughters and spouses, Deb (Gerald) Desimpelaere of Unionville, Rick Sattler of Caro, Joe (Patti) Sattler of Cadillac, Khristine (Ronald) McGowan of Silverwood and Michael Sattler of Caro; six grandchildren, Chad Sattler, Katie and Erin Sattler, Jerry and Edward Desimpelaere and Briana (Gabriel) McGowan-CeCe; one great-granddaughter, Isabella; one brother, two sisters and their spouses, Allen (Louise) Ewald of Caro, Lorraine (Floyd) Lewis of Ft. Meade Florida and Shirley (Wayne) Daniels of Unionville; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Sattler; a brother, Donald Ewald; and an infant sister. The Funeral Liturgy will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dennis Kurcharczyk officiating. Rite of Committal will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Scripture Service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday visitation will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the S.P.R.E.D. Program at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
