Vera Mae Gonyou

Vera Mae Gonyou, age 89, of Sebewaing, passed away Monday, November 7, 2016, at Bay Medical Care Facility in Essexville.

Vera was born January 14, 1927, in Oxford, the daughter of the late John A. and Sarah M. (Mathieson) Feldman. She married Russell M. Gonyou on August 7, 1949, in Oxford at the Congregational Church. She worked at Ogg Cleaners in Pontiac as a silk finisher for 16 years and babysat a lot of children. Vera enjoyed genealogy, baking for her family, playing cards, tole painting, flower gardening, traveling, dancing, hummingbirds, reading, and spending time with her family.

Vera is survived by her daughters: Pamela (Terry A.) Winter of Sebewaing and Luann (Patrick) Gonyou-Reynolds of Gulf Breeze, FL; 6 grandchildren: Amy (Cari) Becker, Kristy (Ron) Green, Michael Preston, Shawn (Marsha) Winter, Kimberly Winter and Ashley Winter; 5 great grandchildren: Sara Becker, Alexandra Becker, Jacob Becker, Gavin Green and Jackson Green; sisters: Margaret Cavangheu, Beverly Collier and Beulah Melzer; and nieces and nephews.

Vera is preceded in death by her husband, Russell; and brothers: Charles, Harold, Stanley and Donald Feldman; and sister, Loretta McCallum.

Cremation handled by Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing.
