Vera A. Menzel

Vera A. Menzel, 90 of Bay Port, passed away early Monday, January 11, 2016 at Scheurer Hospital Long Term Care, Pigeon.

She was born in Brookfield Township on October 27, 1925, and was the daughter of Frederick and Louise (Radloff) Kundinger. She graduated from St. John's School in Kilmanagh and attended Owendale School. On October 27, 1951 she was united in marriage to Raymond K. Menzel at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kilmanagh, and he preceded her in death on July 29, 1990.

Vera worked as custodian for Bay Port Elementary from 1967-1988. She enjoyed sewing and embroidery, and was always baking, gardening, and then canning, or freezing her garden produce. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Kilmanagh.

Her survivors include her children, Harriet (James) Bruce, Dorothy Deming, and Glen (Gail) Menzel, all of Bay Port; son-in-law, Eugene Stagray of Bay City; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Audrey; sisters Ruth Eden and Edna Woldt; and brothers Gerhard and Edgar Kundinger.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Kilmanagh, with Rev. Lee Wenskay officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials for Vera may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or Scheurer Hospital Long Term Care.
