Vera Marie Preston

Vera Marie Preston of Bay City, formerly of Caro, age 95, passed away on the morning of Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Brian's House, surrounded by her loving family. Vera was born May 9, 1927 in Caro, the daughter of the late Harry and Eunice (Beecher) Turner. Vera graduated early from Caro High School and moved to Bay City where she attended the Bay City Business College, obtaining her stenography certificate. Vera had exceptional penmanship and could write 100 words per minute. She used her skills at Westover Cam, Kuhlman Electric, Dow, and many other organizations. Vera always liked to stay busy, was very hardworking, and a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Bay City. In the late 40's, Vera took a trip to New York with her friend and was selected to model on The Kate Smith Show. Her beauty wasn't only on the outside, but on the inside too. Vera's compassion, love, and kindness shown through in everything she did. She loved to paint, sew, put together puzzles, crafts, and could finish a word search book a day. Above all else, Vera loved her family; her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the lights of her life. Vera's strong, independent, loving, and beautiful memory will live on for generations to come. Vera leaves to cherish her memory her children, Rodney (Jeanne) Preston, Tamara (Bruce) Gallemore, and Jeffrey (Tina) Preston; grandchildren, Scott (Amy) Preston, Jennifer (Brian) Techlin, Donielle (Gumaro) Obregon, Michelle (Jimmy) Vercher, Aaron Preston (Kirsten Gloria), and Brandon (Rowan) Preston; great-grandchildren, Ava, Audrey, & Andrew Preston, Emmalyn & Easton Techlin, and Bailey & Olivia Obregon; sister, Margaret (Bill) Hamilton; several nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, Vera was preceded by her sister, Alice Enos; and infant brother, Jarvis Turner. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Monday, August 22, 2022 with Reverend David Wichert. Burial will follow at Almer Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
