Verda L. Smith

Verda L. Smith of Reed City, formerly of Caro, age 91, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Reed City Fields Assisted Living in Reed City. Verda was born May 7, 1928 in Caro, the daughter of the late Louie and Olive Pearl (Maxam) Jacob. She was united in marriage with Robert C. Smith on March 26, 1949 in Caro, and after fifty-two years of marriage, Bob preceded her in death on April 28, 2001. Verda was an active and dedicated member of the Caro United Methodist Church. Verda is survived by two sons and one daughter, Larry (Sharon) Smith, Deborah Travis, Rev. James (Lisa) Smith; five grandchildren, Brad (Melica) Smith, Brian (Julie) Smith, Stacy (Travis) Rae, Lisa Travis, Meghann (Todd) Bagetis; nine great-grandchildren, Emily, Skyler and Peyton Smith, Paxton Bagetis, Davis, Hayden and Brady Rae, Rene and Hayden LaFreniere; one sister-in-law, Dolores Jacob of Detroit; and many nieces and nephews. In keeping with Verda's wishes, cremation has taken place. Cremains will be interred at the Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro with a private memorial service at a later date.
