Vernafae Jarchow

Vernafae Jarchow, 84, of Bay Port, Michigan, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024 at home under hospice care.

Vernafae was born March 24, 1940 in North Platte, Nebraska to the late Glen and Hilda (Halligan) Moore.  She grew up, married and raised her family in Nebraska.  She worked on the family farm in addition to working outside the home in a factory.  She was an active member of Fort Laramie Country Church.  Vernafae most enjoyed being a mother and homemaker, scrapbooking, and being the family historian.  She moved from Wyoming to Michigan to be near her daughter in 2023.

She is survived by her children Dwight (Renae) Porter, Mark Porter, and Jennifer (Kory) Jarchow; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and brother Harvey (Jean Rae) Moore.   She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, son Michael, and siblings: Geraldine McKain, Tom Moore, William Moore, Dorothy Vasa and Glen Ray Moore.

Grave side services will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska at a later date.
