Vernard E. Loeffler, age 77, of Sebewaing, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 12, 2014.
Vernard was born June 25, 1936 in Pigeon, MI to the late Edward and Alma (Hoppe) Loeffler. He graduated from Sebewaing High School in 1954. After high school he joined the US Navy. He served in the South Pacific after the Korean Conflict on the USS George 697. He married Joan Dumke May 31, 1969 at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano, Wisconsin. They just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. He is a retired electrician having worked at Newcore, Inc. in Bay City, Local 577. He was an active member at New Salem Lutheran Church serving on the Board of Evangelism. He enjoyed fishing, fall color tours, sunsets and spending time with his family.
Vernard is survived by his wife, Joan Loeffler; children: Carla Loeffler, Caroline (Robert, Jr.) Brail and Lee E. Loeffler; siblings: Gerald (Joyce) Loeffler, Leroy (Sharron) Loeffler, Erwin (Cynthis) Loeffler and Charlotte (Late Jim) Kritzman; sisters-in-law: Sandra (late Arnold) Dumke and Marilyn (Jerome) Heinrich; grandchildren: Darian Brail, Vahn Brail and Sage Brail; also survived my many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 3-8pm.
The funeral service is Monday, June 16, 2014 at New Salem Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am.
Burial will take place at New Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Sebewaing.
Memorial donations may be given to Wels Special Ministries or New Salem Lutheran Church.
