Vernon H. Arnold, age 68, of Bay City, passed away December 21, 2016, at McLaren Bay Region.
Vernon was born July 20, 1948, in Bay City, to Robert and Gertrude (Schulz) Arnold. He is a 1966 Sebewaing High School graduate and then attended Ferris State College, where he earned an Associate's degree in Machine Tools and Trades. He enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, visiting Charlevoix and Petoskey area, watching Detroit Tigers, USA sports, admiring birds (especially bald eagles), going to Loons games, visiting the Mackinac Bridge and the Labor Day Walk, and frequenting the Lamplighter Restaurant in Sebewaing. He worked as a Journeyman-Machinist for General Motors (Bay City Powertrain) in Bay City. He enjoyed the staff and friends at Riversbend Rehab. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church (Columbia Corners). Vernon was a quadriplegic for 12 years and didn't let it affect his spirit for life. And above all, he loved his Lord and Savior.
Vernon is survived by his siblings: Byron (Janice) Arnold, June (John) Simon and Wayne Arnold; nieces and nephews: Nathan Arnold, Neil Arnold, Robert Arnold, Chuck Arnold, Jonathan Arnold, Adam Arnold, Ricky Simon and Ezra Arnold; great nieces and nephews; and his best friends: Gary Voss, Jerry Jones and Terry Kemp.
Vernon is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lynn Arnold.
Visitation will be Monday, December 26, 2016, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 3-8pm.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church (Unionville) (Columbia Corners). Visitation will begin at 10am until the time of service at 11am.
Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given to St. Peter's Lutheran Church (Building Fund)or USA Athletics (Boys Baseball).
