Vic Sonquist of Caro, age 79, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at his home, following a brief illness. Vic's healing came in a Heavenly healing instead of an earthly healing. He is now celebrating in the Heavenly Paradise. Vic was born July 1, 1939 in Garner, Iowa, the son of the late Ray and Edith (Casperson) Sonquist. He graduated from Garner High School in 1957 and went on to join the U.S. Navy. After serving his country, Vic moved to Michigan to be with his sister and her family where he had often visited as a child. Vic attended and graduated from Ferris State College. He was united in marriage with the former Karen Noble on May 14, 1966 in Fairgrove, and the couple recently celebrated fifty-three years of marriage. While visiting Michigan during the summer months, he started his working career at Raddamaker-Lyons Ford in Caro, and later at Bob Kettle's Ford, Burton-Moore Ford, and retiring from Moore Motors as the parts manager in 2001. Vic was an active member of the Colwood United Brethren Church and its Bible study groups, and also served on the Juniata Township Planning Commission Board. He enjoyed his family, Bible study, various church activities, cutting wood, gardening, yard work, and working around his property. He also enjoyed watching and attending sporting events. Vic is survived by his loving wife, Karen; one sister, June King and her husband, Don; two sisters-in-law, Sandra & Dale Pike and Mary Jane Noble; many nieces and nephews, naming a few are Mike & Marcia Partlo, Mark & Cindy Partlo, Dean & Marcia Sonquist, Cindy Sonquist, Bob & Tammy King, Joan & Kevin Salwen, Marcia & Gary Harrington, Dr. Marsha & Dr. Greg Roth, Jodi Haubenstricker, Brian & Shannon Guettler, Roni & Ed Ervin; and several great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Vic was preceded in death by his siblings, Charlene & Rick Partlo, Marcele & Verlon Grant, Duane Sonquist, Bernie Sonquist; nephews, Scott Sonquist and Tom King; his in-laws, James & Lucille Noble, Robert Noble, Jerry Noble, Maralyn Noble Penberthy and Mike Noble. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at the Colwood United Brethren Church in Caro with Pastor Randy Carpenter officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Colwood United Brethren Church, Tuscola County Medical Care Community, Mike Noble Memorial Scholarship Fund, or the donor's favorite charity.
