Victor Herbert Dressler, age 92, died on December 15, 2016.
Victor was born on June 5, 1924, and was raised in Sebewaing, the son of Herbert and Martha (Volz) Dressler. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School. He was confirmed on April 10, 1938.
On February 9, 1946, he was united in marriage to Beverly Sharpsteen, by Reverend List at the Immanuel Lutheran Parsonage. They moved to Pigeon on a farm and farmed for many years. . In 1985 they moved back to Sebewaing to retire. He presently resided at Country Gardens in Pigeon, MI. The couple were married 70 years. Victor was employed at Scheurer Hospital as a maintenance man for 14 years and retired after suffering a severe stroke in 1986. He fought back and did a lot of wood working and wood carvings.
Victor is survived by his wife Beverly, four children, Dennis and Bonita Dressler of Greenfield, IN, Larry and Treva Dressler of Akron, MI, Dale and Candy Dressler of Brighton, MI, and James and Connie (Dressler) Hollingshead of Bay Port, MI. He is survived by six grandchildren, Paul and Jennifer (Dressler) Durham of Greenfield, IN, Gary and Kristie (Dressler) Knowlton of Milan, MI, Adam and Julie Dressler of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI, Casey Dressler of Greenfield, IN, Benjamin Nieschulz of Birch Run, MI and David and Sally (Nieschulz) Newland of Otisville, MI. Five great grandchildren, Liberty and Levi Durham of Greenfield, IN, Trevor and Ethan Knowlton of Milan, MI and Joshua Dressler of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI. He is also survived by one sister-in-law, Phyllis Sharpsteen. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Ruth (Dressler) Roemer and her husband Walter, one brother Harold Dressler and his wife Doris, and one brother-in-law Frederic Sharpsteen, one grandson Joshua Dressler, one granddaughter Sarah Dressler and one great grandson Cameron Knowlton
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral home of Sebewaing. The family will receive friends from 2pm to 8pm Monday, December 19th at the funeral home.
Service will be held at the New Salem Lutheran Church in Sebewaing on Tuesday, Dec. 20th, with Pastor Mayhew officiating. Viewing will also be at the church from 10 am till time of service at 11am with interment in the St. Johns (Kilmanagh) Lutheran Cemetery.
