Vida Patricia Fluegge

Vida Fluegge, 98, of Owendale, passed away Saturday April 29th, 2023 at Scheurer Health in Pigeon.

Vida was born September 25, 1924 to the late William and Nora (Bullard) Burrows and was a graduate of Owendale High School.  She lived and raised her family on her family farm in Owendale. She worked during the war in Detroit, then married Herbert Fluegge of Elkton in 1943.  During early life she was an active community leader in 4-H; Chairman of the Brookfield Cancer Drive; Chairman of Brookfield United Way; President of Owendale-Gagetown PTA; Corresponding Secretary for PTA Huron Co. Council; Owendale Women's Study Club; and Secretary of the organizational Committee for the zoning of Brookfield Twp. An avid genealogist, she spent 30 years of her life compiling family history and getting it into print for family members. The "Ross Family International" 1982; The "Wilhelm Rathje Ancestry & Descendants" Album, 2003 and both Paternal and Maternal Burrows and Bullard albums in 2011. Vida worked at Automotive Industries, Owendale for 14 years. As a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Vida was a Sunday School teacher and member of Ladies Aid. Vida enjoyed bowling, golfing, square dancing, hunting and fishing, along with her greatest pleasures of enjoying the activities of her children, and even had the opportunity to watch grandchildren and great-grandchildren sporting events.

Vida is survived by children April Bieniek (special friend Thomas Johannes), Darl Fluegge (died 1983), and Richard (Ruth) Fluegge; 6 grandchildren: Carla (Chris), Renee, Chris (Lisa), Jaime (Anthony), Paula (Derrick) Kristi (Cody); 16 great-grandchildren: Loann, Olivia, Bode, Dallas, Kolbie, Paige, Wesley, Adam, Evan, Alaina, Jackson, Ella, Jaida. Dakota, Maggie, and Logan; 2 great-great-grandchildren, ElizaMae and Esme.   She was preceded in death by her sisters Yvonne Clark and Dora Talvensaari, and brothers Raymond Burrow and Clayton Burrows.

Funeral services will be at 10:00am Wednesday, May 3rd at St. Paul Lutheran Church-Linkville with Rev. Chris Suggitt officiating.  Burial will be in Grant Twp Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-8 Tuesday and 9:00 to 10:00am Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church-Linkville.
