Viola Grace Petiprin of Caro, age 80, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Viola was born December 23, 1938 in Mayville, the daughter of the late Floyd E. and Violet Ann (Fox) Dietz and was a graduate of Caro High School Class of 1957. She was united in marriage with Donald Petiprin on January 12, 1957 in Caro. Viola was employed at Caro Community Hospital for thirty-four years retiring in 1999, and also dedicated forty years of her life teaching catechism to children. Her happiest moments were times spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Vi was an avid Michigan State fan and had an ongoing rivalry with Don, who was a staunch U of M fan. She also had a passion for taking pictures and videos. Viola was a member of St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church in Caro and the Mayville American Legion Auxiliary. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Don Petiprin; five children, Jim Petiprin of Coloma, Anna Petiprin-Brightman and husband, Richard, of Midland, Linda Voelker of Caro, Chris Petiprin and Cherie Page of San Diego, California, John Petiprin of Caro; eleven grandchildren, Jason & Haven Petiprin, Joshua & Natalie Petiprin, Nicole Steffan, Christine & Daniel Mahoney, Megan Steffan, Jacqueline & Lorenzo Reynero, Jeanette & Rhys Holder, Caihla Petiprin, Colton Petiprin, Sheena & Brandon Joles, Sarah Petiprin and Trent Fox; great-grandchildren, Brett Green, Gavyn Vandeberghe, Amiah Graves, Arianna Joles, Connor Tessin, Teagan Fuller, Avian Graves, Hailee Petiprin, Lorenzo Reynero, Jr., Ava Holder, Aubreanna Joles, Lucas Reynero, Colt and Cooper Mahoney, Skylar Mendoza-Steffan, Bryce Petiprin, Mila Joles, and soon to be born, baby "P"; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Viola was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Kurt Steffan; three brothers, infant Lester, Clayton and Raymond Dietz. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Jerzy Dobosz officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Compassus Hospice.
