Viola F. Schuette

Viola F. Schuette, age 96, of Pigeon died Saturday morning at Scheurer Long Term Care.

She was born July 3, 1914 in Winsor Twp. at the home of her parents, the late Charlie and Hulda (Barr) Heck.
Viola lived in the Pigeon area all her life and was a 1932 graduate of Pigeon High School. On June 2, 1934, she was united in marriage to Edward Schuette at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Berne. Ed preceded her in death April 18, 1964.
Viola was employed at Rundell Floor Covering in Pigeon for 18 years and at William Magwood Furniture for 7 retiring in 1981. She also worked part time at the Polewach Store in Pigeon for over 30 years.
She was an active member of Cross Lutheran church for 77 years and taught Sunday school for 36 years. Viola loved to travel and make quilts. Her claim to fame came, when she appeared as one of the extras in the movie “Somewhere in Time” filmed on Mackinaw Island with Christopher Reeves and Jayne Seymour.

Surviving are two daughters, Helen (Ron) Greene of Zephyrhills, FL and Dorothy Young of Pigeon and her fiancé Doug Thuemmel of Port Austin; five grandchildren, Linda (Bill) Monroe of Oceanside, CA, Mary (Alan) El Tagi of Woodbridge, VA, John (Brenda) Greene of Stafford, VA, Dana Young of Saline and Dr. Bryan (Julie) Young of Murphysboro, IL; eight great grandchildren Elizabeth, Deloris, Christopher, Nicole, Christian, Jordan, Colin and Kaylee; four great great grandchildren, Abigail, Connor, Thomas, and Alexis; her brother, Raymond (Maude) Heck of Pigeon; sister-in-law and dear friend, Lila Heck of Pigeon; former son-in-law, Jerry Young and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Alvin and Morris Heck; a sister, Helen Kreuger and a great, great grandson Adian.

Funeral services will be conducted 4:00 PM Wednesday, June 1, at Cross Lutheran Church, Pigeon. Rev. Tim Loehrke, pastor will officiate with burial in Cross Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends may call at Cross Lutheran Church Wednesday from Noon until the time of services.
