Viola Martha Weippert, age 93, of Sebewaing, passed away, Monday, January 6, 2014 at her home.
She was born June 20, 1920 in Unionville to the late Fred and Philippina (Bower) Polley. She married Otto Weippert April 25, 1940, and he passed away in 1982. She then married Arnold Weippert in 1984, and he passed away in 1997. She enjoyed being a farmer's wife and driving tractors, hoeing beets, cooking and making pies. She enjoyed flower gardens, playing cards and spending time with her family.
Viola is survived by her children: Geraldine (Dale) Koehler, Karon (Allan) Nietzke, Sharon Engelhardt and step son Gary Harris; grandchildren: David Koehler, Julie (Chad) Jacoby, Amy (Tom) Marciniak, Scott (Christine) Nietzke, William (Stephanie) Nietzke, Sheila Pawlak, Deborah Mika and John (Christina) Engelhardt; great grandchildren: Zack, Douglas, Connor, Kye, Jade, Taylor, Tyler, Carys, Mia, Ashley, Michael, Taylor, Evan, Keith and Emmalee; special caregivers: Deb Myers and David Koehler.
Preceded in death by step mother, Fredia Polley, sister, Anna Polley, brothers: Clemence, Albert and Frederick Polley, and son-in-law Dennis Engelhardt.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 1-8pm at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing.
The funeral service will be Friday, January 10, 2014 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church-Bach, 9653 Bach Rd, Sebewaing, MI. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am.
Burial will take place in the spring at Grant Township Cemetery in Gagetown.
Memorial donations may be given to St. Peters Lutheran Church or Relay for Life/American Cancer Society.
