Virgil Timko of Caro, age 81, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Medilodge in Cass City, following a brief illness. Virgil was born on June 3, 1935 at the family home in Almer Township, the son of the late John, Sr. and Jessie (Roman) Timko. He was united in marriage with the former June Ann Wilsie on August 20, 1958, and the couple celebrated fifty-one years of marriage prior to June's death on December 8, 2009. Virgil served in the U.S. Army stationed in Alabama in the late 1950's. He farmed and worked campaigns at Michigan Sugar Company for over thirty years. Virgil loved spending time in Canada fishing, and also enjoyed his many cats. He was a member of the Caro United Methodist Church. Virgil is survived by two children and their spouses, Tammy & Rob Austin of Seattle, Washington, and Timothy & Theresa Timko of Caro; grandchildren, Denali & Andy Hill of St. George, Utah, Jesse Austin of Indianapolis, Indiana, Nicholas Timko of Miami Beach, Florida, and Brenden Timko of Caro; two great-grandchildren, Kindle and Callie Hill of St. George, Utah; one sister, Margaret "Muncie" Botsford of Caro; two brothers and their spouses, Ernie & Helen Timko of Georgia, John & Veda Timko of Caro; sister-in-law, Eloise Simpson of Caro; brother-in-law, Richard & Bridgette Wilsie of Scottsdale, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Steve Timko and an infant brother; and one sister, Helen Petiprin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the Caro United Methodist Church with Rev. Tony Tomasino officiating. Burial will follow at the Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider contributions to the Caro United Methodist Church or Cass River Pet Friendz.
