Virginia M. (Champagne) Wing age 84, of Oak Beach passed away Tuesday evening, November 20, at McLaren Bay Region Hospital, Bay City.
She was born February 24, 1928, in New Brunswick, NJ to the late Joseph and Anna (Dwyer) Redmond. Virginia grew up in the New Brunswick area and graduated from St. Peter’s Catholic High School.
On February 8, 1947, she was united in marriage to Ervin Champagne at St. Peters Catholic Church, New Brunswick, NJ. They lived and farmed in Lake Twp. for a time and then moved to California, coming back to Huron County in 1967. Ervin preceded her in death. She married Archie Wing March 12, 1983 at the Caseville United Methodist Church; he also preceded her in death.
Virginia was employed at the Bad Axe Library the past few years a job she truly enjoyed.
She was a long time member of St. Felix Catholic Church, Pinnebog and enjoyed reading, traveling the U.S. Her big passion was cooking for and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are six children, Mary (Tom) Nelson of Cheboygan, Richard (Margaret) Champagne of Lake Twp., Connie (Ron) Kuch of Caseville, Kathy Champagne of Okemos, Beverly (Dean) Osentoski of Port Huron and Susan (Mike O’Brien) Champagne of Olympia, WA; 16 grandchildren, Kim, Kurt, John, Krissy, Adrianna, Sarah, David, Jason, Ed, Eric, Chad, Caban, Mike, Brad, Beatrice, Nick and Ava; ten great grandchildren, Ashlyn, Kasey, Vivian, Jessica, Shelby, Destiny, Montana, John, Emma and Renee; Siblings, Joseph and Donald Redmond and Pattie (John) Szucs all of New Jersey.
Preceding her in death were three sons, Edward, Joseph and Ervin Jr.
A funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, November 24, at St. Felix Catholic Church, Pinnebog with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation in Elkton from 2 to 8 PM Friday.
Memorial gifts may be given to St. Felix, Bad Axe Library or the family.
