Virginia M. Hyde

Virginia Mae Hyde, 88 of Caseville, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2016 at home with family while under hospice care.

Born in Flint on September 4, 1927, she was the daughter of William and Josephine (Schabel) Wilson. On June 6, 1953 she was united in marriage with Clarence Junior Hyde in Grosse Pointe. He preceded her in death on February 22, 2006.

Virginia was a homemaker throughout her lifetime, but kept busy fundraising with various charities to help her community. She made monthly visits to Scheurer Hospital Long Term Care, and was known to the residents as the "banana lady."

Virginia was a member of the F.O.E. 3690 Auxiliary, as well as the American Legion Post 543 Auxiliary, both in Caseville.

She is survived by her children, Kathy A. (John) Giszcazak of Willis, Mark C. Hyde of Caseville, Robert N. Hyde of Port Austin, Linda L. Hyde of Caseville, and Richard A. Hyde of Richmond, Virginia; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, William Hyde, Jr. of Florida. In addition to her husband, Clarence Junior Hyde, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Terry Lynn Mazzoni.

Per Virginia's wishes, her body has been donated to the University of Michigan Medical School, and there will be no services.
