Virginia Kaye "Ginnie" Haley, age 70, of Sebewaing, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw. She was born in Bay City December 3, 1941 as Virginia Kaye Brown. She was raised by her mother Katherine Valeck Tomich and her step father Michael Tomich. Ginnie attended Country School in Saginaw County and graduated from Saginaw High in 1959. She was united in marriage to Burton "Butch" Raymond Gettel on July 23, 1960. He passed away October 22, 1971. They had three children: Deborah, Craig and Lee. Ginnie married Ervin Haley November 11, 1972. He has two daughters: Annette and Debra Lynn.
Ginnie is survived by her husband Ervin Haley; her children: Deborah (Larry) Dubs, Craig (friend Tami Brown) Gettel and Lee (Wendy) Gettel; step daughters: Annette (Robert) Briolat and Debra Lynn (friend Gene Polega, Jr.) Haley; 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; and two step brothers Richard and Michael "Micky" Tomich.
Ginnie is preceded in death by her first husband Burton Gettel; mother and step father: Katherine and Michael Tomich; two half brothers: Wayne and Melvin Tomich.
Ginnie was a very active member and leader at Community of Christ. She served in many areas including Sunday School, Bible School, Women's Group, Pastoral Commission, Recording Secretary, Deacon, Building Committee and Worship Commission, among others. She was constant unwavering support to Ervin as they Pastored the church for 3 decades.
She loved her ceramic friends, circle of friends and camping at the Woodlands Campground near Hale, MI. She loved and was proud of her entire family and hosts of friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 6, 2012 from 1-9pm at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing.
The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Community of Christ in Bay Port. Visiting will begin at the church at 11am until the time of service at 1pm.
Burial will take place at New Bay Port Cemetery.
Memorial may be made to Community of Christ Church – Bay Port or Community of Christ Woodlands Campground.
