Virginia Louise Langley

Virginia L. Langley, 72, of Caseville, died Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at her home while under hospice care.

Virginia was born March 19, 1939 to the late Ross and Grace (Riehdorf) Thomas in Detroit where she grew up. She moved to Caseville in 1969. She married Russell Langley on May 4, 1985 in Caseville. He preceded her in death on October 17, 2007.

She worked as a bartender at the Cedar Grove and Riverside Bar until opening a group home in 1989. She and her husband cared for up to six elderly residents in there home for 19 years. An avid pool player, she was on the Riverside Pool League for 31 years. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crafting and spending time with her beloved dachshund Cinnamon Taffy.

Surviving are her 10 children: Leonard (Nanette) Oorbeck of Florida, Carla (Tracy) Jacobi of Caseville, Thomas Oorbeck of Caseville, Raymond Oorbeck of Lansing, Jeffry Oorbeck of Saginaw, Carrie (Greg) Franzel of Ubly, Kim Wilson of Texas, Russell (Jan) Langley of Decker, Gary (Tina) Langley of Cass City and Tricia (Timothy) Popham of Millington; 20 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandsons; sister Delores Wardrop of Lakeville and brother Harold Thomas of Warren.

She was preceded in death by her brother Ross Thomas.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Friday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville with Rev. John Gunden officiating. Burial will be in Caseville Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be 3 to 9 pm Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
