Virginia Mis

Virginia Mis, age 87 years, of Cass City, formerly of Caro, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Tendercare in Cass City. She was born on November 1, 1920 in Detroit to the late Joseph and Agnes (Miller) Pawlowski. Virginia was raised in the Detroit area, moving permanently to the Tuscola County area following her marriage to Walter E. Mis on November 23, 1939 in Cass City. He preceded her in death on June 10, 1988. They moved to their home in Caro in 1951 and Virginia worked for Easthams Cleaners for many years at their downtown location. She worked within her home doing the bookkeeping for her husbands window washing and painting business. Virginia retired from the Foster Grandparent Program in May of 2005 after seventeen years. During that period she worked with and loved the children at Highland Pines School. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She is survived by three grandsons, Alec (Kelly) Mis of Wixom, Eric Mis of Michigan and Mike Mis of Bay City; three great-grandchildren, Lexxus, Lucas and Dylan Mis; her siblings, Robert (Delores) Pawlowski of Harbor Beach, Marguerite Krywko of Caro, Dorothy (Fred) Murrish of Galloway, Ohio and Charlotte Williamson of Caro; a sister-law, Rose Wysocki of Midland; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Mis, on January 12, 2005. A memorial service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dennis Kucharczyk officiating. There will be no visitation at the Collon Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Human Development Commission Foster Grandparent Program.
