Virginia R. Schaaf, 86, of Pigeon, died Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Huron County Medical Care Facility.
Virginia was born June 16, 1931 in Bay City. She and her husband owned Schaaf Hardware in Pigeon before working at Scheurer Hospital. She enjoyed being outside in her flowers visiting with people from her yard-swing and having her hair done everything Thursday. Friday was her day to have coffee with friends and lunch with her friend Pat at the Main Street Café. She and her husband played Mr. and Mrs. Claus for many years. Her cats Fluffy and Muffy brought her joy.
She is survived by her daughter Sue (Sam) Gottschalk of Elkton; grandchildren Kimberly Frost (Tom Williams) of Sebewaing and Jim (Amanda) Hallock of Harbor Beach; and great-granddaughter Peyton. She was preceded in death by her husband Sheril “Bud” Schaaf in 2012, son Robert and parents Earnest and Bessie Miller.
A memorial service will be at Noon Friday, February 16 th at the Pigeon First United Methodist Church with Rev. Cindy Gibbs officiating. There will be visiting at church on Friday from 10:00am until the service time at noon. Urn interment will be at Grandlawn Cemetery in the spring. Cremation arrangements are being handled by the Champagne Funeral Chapel.
