Virginia S. Sochocki, age 79, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2007 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in Caro, following a lingering illness. She was born May 9, 1927 in Detroit, the daughter of the late Stanley Stella (Iskra) Rokita. She came to the Caro area with her parents in the early 1930s. She was married to William (Bill) J. Sochocki on July 7, 1945 in Caro. Virginia had worked at the Caro Regional Center for several years before she and her husband established the Butter Crust Bakery in Bridgeport in 1966. They continued to own and operate the bakery until their retirement in 1988. Virginia had been an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro and St. Christopher Catholic Church in Bridgeport. She enjoyed traveling, camping with her husband and planting flowers in her garden. Virginias beloved husband of 48 years preceded her in death on April 4, 1993. Virginia is survived by three sons, one daughter and their spouses, William J. Ann Sochocki of Caro, James V. Kathy Sochocki of West Branch, Gregory D. Sochocki and Cheri Friske of Bridgeport, Sally Ann Newpher of Cape May, NJ; eight grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Teper of Marietta, GA, Laura Cherniawski of St. Louis, MO, Janet (Chuck) Houston of Hartland, MI and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Virginia was preceded in death by her infant twin sister Irene, two sisters and two brothers, Helen Dezenski, Angeline Musthaler, Tony and Stanley (Bill) Rokita.
