Wade Morgan Kappen

Wade Morgan Kappen of Caro, age 55, passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Wade was born April 22, 1968, in Cass City, the son of Jack William and Iris (DuRussel) Kappen. He was a 1986 graduate of Caro High School and went on to establish and manage his own business, Kappen Excavating. On August 8, 2018, Wade married the former Gera Almedilla on the family property with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Wade's love for the outdoors was evident as he immersed himself in activities such as hunting, fishing, and caring for his orchard. He created "Platinum Lake" on his property, complete with a zipline that spanned the lake. Enjoying the countryside with a Bud Light Platinum in hand, he often rode around in his New Holland tractor or Kubota side-by-side. If you chose to embark on a ride with Wade, you never knew how long your journey across the countryside might last. Known for his fun and spontaneous spirit, Wade hosted the Tuscolapalooza for four years and was a firm believer that life was better with family and friends.

Wade is survived by his loving wife, Gera; four children, Shanteran Green and her husband, Kenny, Kaylyn Kappen, Karly Kappen, and Gabriel Kappen; Gera’s children, Ivanna Fyan and her husband, Kevin, Emilia Colman, and Victor Colman; granddaughter, Charli Fyan; parents, Jack & Iris Kappen; siblings, Deena Bennett, Margie & James Ulewicz, Monica & Jeff LeValley, Warren & Crystal Kappen, Karen & Pete Cody, Chris Sampson, and Jason & Sheree Kappen; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In keeping with Wade’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private service for the immediate family is being planned. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Child Advocacy Center of Tuscola County, 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, MI 48723.
