Walter J. Czarnecki, age 90, of Caseville, died Wednesday April 27, 2011 at Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in Caro.
Walter was born August 1, 1920 in Detroit to the late Michael and Helen (Kolton) Czarnowczan. On June 22, 1946 he married Florence Pawlowski at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly.
Walter retired from Chrysler, Mopar Division, in 1978 after 40 years of dedicated service. Having had a cottage in Caseville since 1965, he moved there permanently after retiring. He was a proud member of the UAW, Caseville Eagles, Knights of Columbus and St. Roch Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing and playing the lottery, hoping his lucky numbers would come through.
He is survived by his wife Florence; daughter Joyce and her husband Dennis Anderson of Cass City; grandchildren Jeffrey and Janelle Anderson of Cass City; and brothers Michael (Dorothy) Czarnowczan and Ted (Dolores) Charney, both of Sterling Heights.
He was preceded in death by his sister Stella Butchko and brother Edward Czarnecki.
A funeral mass will be at 11:00 am Saturday at St. Roch Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Pare presiding. Burial will be in Caseville Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2 to 8 pm Friday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville. There will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:00 pm Friday at the Funeral Home. He will lie in-state one hour before mass in Church on Saturday.
Memorials may be made to Tuscola County Medical Care Facility or the Alzheimer’s Association.
