Walter H. Forster age 76, of Elkton died Sunday morning, February 8, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Saginaw following a severe heart attack.
He was born March 21, 1932, in Oliver Twp. at the home of his parents, the late Emanuel and Lydia (Stecker) Forster and lived in the Elkton area most of his life.
Walt graduated from Elkton High School in 1950, in 1952, he was inducted in to the US Army and served in Korea.
On December 13, 1952 he was united in marriage to Carol K. Henne at Hayes Methodist Church.
Walt was employed in sales at Starline Farm Equipment, Harvard, IL for 18 years and in 1979 began working with the Elkton DPW, retiring as Superintendent in December of 1993.
He was a member of Cross Lutheran Church, Pigeon, Thumb Area Antique Auto Club, a charter member of the Elkton Lions Club and past commander of Carpenter-Dorsch VFW Post 6013, Elkton.
Walt enjoyed restoring antique cars, woodworking and loved to visit with family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Carol; three daughters, Gail Brown of Elkton, Joan (Mike) Orjada of Caseville and Ann (Robin) Buschlen of Pigeon; seven grandchildren, Brad, Marc, Sarah, Alexandra, Lindsie, Amanda and Jenna; three great granddaughters, Tenishia, Jessica and Stella; a great great grandson, Eli; his sister, Marilyn (Bill) Chappel of Elkton and his brother, Roger (Chris) Forster of Elkton.
Preceding him in death was his son-in-law, Jim Brown; four brothers, Gust, Rudy, John and Otto; and two sisters, Elsie Posade and Edna Forster.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 11, at Cross Lutheran Church, Pigeon with military honors by the Elkton VFW.
Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 2 to 8 PM Tuesday and at the church after 10 AM Wednesday.
Memorials may be directed to Cross Lutheran Church or Scheurer Hospital.
