Walter Timothy Gleason of Unionville, age 80, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023, at Timberline Lodge surrounded by his family. Walt was born on May 18, 1943 in Owosso, the first triplet of the late John and Mary Ellen (Talon) Gleason, they were the first set of triplets born at Owosso Hospital. He graduated from high school and went on to serve in the U.S. Army. Walt was a millwright with General Motors, retiring after thirty dedicated years. On June 13, 1975 Walt married the former Theresa Garner. Together they shared nearly thirty years and countless memories. Sadly, Theresa preceded Walt in death on March 24, 2005. He was a parishioner of Holy Family Church in Sebewaing and Sacred Heart Church in Caro. Walt was a proud 4th Degree member of the Unionville/Sebewaing Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, the 40 & 8 club, and of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He was one of the original founders of the Tuscola County Relay for Life program and helped out every year he was able to. Walt adored his four-legged faithful companion, Charlie, and always loved time spent with his family and friends.
Walt leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Melinda (Jason) Adams, Melissa Eavy, and Rusty (Bobbie Jo) Herdman; grandchildren, Olivia Adams, Sarah (Kyle) Schian, Samantha (Josh) Damm, Kaitlin (Alex) Natole, and Benjamin (fiancé, Andrea) Herdman; great-grandchildren, Hazel Schian and Eleyna, Isaac, and Claire Damm; sister, Wanda Topham; sister-in-law, Jan Gleason; brother-in-law, Wendell Bentley; many nieces nephews, and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, Walt was preceded in death by his sisters, Rita Talsma, Agnes Bentley, Waunita Troyer, and his triplet “Little Waunita,” who passed at just twenty-two months; brothers, Michael Gleason, Justin Gleason, Ernest Gleason, and his triplet, Warren Gleason who he shared a special connection with, passed only twenty-six hours before Walt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church in Caro. Rev. Christopher Coman will officiate with burial following in Sacred Heart Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. Rosary at Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro and again on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to Tuscola County Habitat for Humanity to build veteran ramps, any local veteran organization, or the Tuscola County Relay for Life.

The family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. Rosary at Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro and again on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass.
