Wanda “Mae” Farmer age 100, lifelong resident and business owner of Caseville died Thursday morning, October 29, at Scheurer Long Term Care, Pigeon.
She was born May 3, 1915 in Caseville to the late Claude and Berthina (Langley) Dufty. Mae grew up in Caseville and was a 1933 graduate of Pigeon High School.
On October 17, 1943, she was united in marriage to William J. Farmer at the home of her parents on Woodbine St. in Caseville. Bill preceded her in death August 11, 1998.
In 1952, she and Bill took over the operation of the trailer park in Caseville from his parents and ran it until 2001. She and Bill also started the Caseville Fish Market in 1970, retiring in 1994.
Mae was a member of the Caseville United Methodist Church and loved all kinds of little animals. She enjoyed spending time with her family and taking care of all the little animals.
Surviving are her daughter, JoAnn Schwert of Caseville; four grandchildren, Christina (Lou) McCarthy of Pigeon, Jennifer Schultz of Jackson, Ryan Schultz of Caseville and Melinda Schultz of Jackson; two great grandchildren, Eric McCarthy and William Schultz and her sister-in-law, Geraldine Simmons of Caseville.
Preceding her in death were her brother, Walter Dufty in 1934 and her sister, Berthina Hoy in 2012.
A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, November 7, at the Caseville United Methodist Church, with Rev. Linda Fuller, pastor officiating. The family will receive friends after 10 AM Saturday at the church.
