Wanda Lois (Kimmel) Perry, age 87, of Bradenton, Florida passed away on Friday, October 26, 2012 at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, Lakewood Ranch, Florida from head trauma, the result of an accidental fall. She was born on November 5, 1924 in Almer Township to the late Glenn and Gertrude (Green) Kimmel. Wanda grew up in Caro and lived most of her life in Caro. After retirement from Krogers, she moved to Henderson, Nevada where she lived until 1999. She then moved to Fort Myers and lived there briefly before moving to Bradenton, Florida. Wanda worked at Krogers in Caro for 35 years, retiring as the Head Cashier/Bookkeeper. Wanda was a member of Kedron Chapter #33, Order of Eastern Star for many years, leaving that organization in 1954. Wanda married Merritt B. Perry in 1942 and divorced in 1956. Wanda and her companion Jack Gusko traveled frequently for many years, visiting every state in America and every Province in Canada as well as Russia, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Scotland, England, Germany, Australia, New Zealand and many other countries. She has recently been involved with Meals on Wheels in Bradenton, Florida as a volunteer. She found her passion in ballroom dancing, recently competing at the Intermediate Bronze level in Tampa, Florida. Wanda also was involved in “Fletchers Follies” at Fletchers Music Store in Bradenton, Florida where she became the Director and Mistress of Ceremonies for the musical performances given by students of Fletchers Music. Wanda was a member of the Bradenton Moose Lodge 1223 / WOTM Chapter 1072; a life member of the Bradenton DAV and a member of the Bradenton Order of Eagles. Wanda is survived by her daughter, Dianne Kay Perry, Ph.D. of Bradenton, Florida; grandson, Mark D. Shaw (Robin Knoll) of St. John, Indiana; two great-grandchildren, Sarah and Matthew Shaw; sister, Shirley (Kimmel) Lenhard of Gagetown; sister-in-law, Glenda Kimmel of Caro; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Gertrude (Green) Kimmel; a daughter, Sharon Sue; sister, Dolores (Kimmel) Schiavone; brother, Dale G. Kimmel; brother-in-laws, Joseph Schiavone and William Lenhard; nephew, Jon Lenhard; son-in-law, Earl A. Morris, Jr.; and her companion of over thirty years, Jack Gusko. Cremation has taken place in Florida. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Gregg Mayberry officiating. Burial will follow at Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro. Friends may call at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the American Cancer Society on Wandas behalf. Wanda was a survivor of breast cancer, non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, Basil Skin Cancer, Melanoma of the skin, Waldenstromss Macroglobunemia and Multiple Myeloma. There will be a Celebration of Life for Wanda in Bradenton, Florida a few weeks after burial at Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro.
