Ward L. Perket, age 76, of Sebewaing, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, January 4, 2012. Ward was born August 31, 1935 in Iron Mountain, MI to the late Violet (Varvil) Perket. He married Lorna (Jahr) Perket on October 5, 1991 at St. John Lutheran Church – Kilmanagh. Ward's hobbies were gardening, reading, model trains and cars. He enjoyed rooting for the Green Bay Packers and playing with Ariana's dog, Flower. He was a member of the Century Club in Beloit, Wisconsin and met for the men's prayer breakfast at Lamplighter Restaurant every Wednesday in Sebewaing. Ward worked for 40 years for Fairbanks Morse Company as a Senior Field Service Engineer. The job required extensive travel, including Japan, Alaska, Ecuador and Greenland. He worked on large machinery installation and trouble shooting. This included working on ore carrying ships, including the Roger Blau, submarines, power plants, the Biosphere in Arizona, power plants and nuclear plants.
Ward is survived by his wife Lorna (Jahr) Perket of Sebewaing. His children: Michael (Kelly) Perket of Wisconsin and Kimberly Perket-Owens of Wisconsin. His grandchild, Justin Perket of Ann Arbor, MI. His siblings: Sharon (the late Mel) Faehnel and Lauren (Jim) Pollack. Ward is also survived by his dear step children: Albert (Liz) Kovach, Greg (Linda) Ware, Lori McNames, Linette Fritz, Loretta (Arnie) Howard, Lana Sears (Vern Jacobs), step grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ward is predeceased by his first wife, Dolores Perket; his son, Jerry Perket; and brother, Larry Perket.
Visitation Friday, January 6, 2012 from 2-9pm at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing.
Funeral service will be Saturday, January 7, 2012 at St. John Lutheran Church – Kilmanagh. Visiting will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am.
Burial will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery – Kilmanagh, in Sebewaing.
