Warren O. Swanquist

April 16, 1921 — March 27, 2015

Warren O. Swanquist, 93, of Caseville, died Friday, March 27, 2015 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe.

Warren was born April 16, 1921 in Detroit to the late Fritz and Gertrude (Lindenberg) Swanquist. He served in the US Army during World War II, fighting with the 10th Armored Division at the Battle of the Bulge. On May 2, 1942 he married Madeline Ronse.

Warren was a graduate of Ford Trade School and worked for Ford in Dearborn as a manufacturing engineer, retiring in 1979. After retiring he moved from Dearborn to his home on Sand Point, and spent many winters in New Port Richey, Florida. An active member of the community, he was a past president of the Kiwanis Club, and a member of the Historical Society and American Legion. He enjoyed designing and building model airplanes, word searches, boating, traveling and bicycling. But by far his greatest interest was his family; he loved spending time with them during their visits.

He is survived by his wife Madeline; daughters Carol Laskie of Canton and Diane (Allen) Spinek of Romeo; grandchildren Carrie, Kenneth, Tracie, Emily, Daniel and Katie; and great-grandchildren Tabitha, Aaron, Christian, Raegen, Madison and Nicolas. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law Ronald Laskie and all of his siblings: Robert, Richard, Roy Don, Doris Thienel, Shirley Krueger, Pauline Skidmore and June Rasmussen.

A funeral mass will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, March 31st at St. Roch/OLPH Catholic Church in Caseville with Fr. Robert Pare presiding. Burial with military honors will be in Caseville Twp Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 12:00 until the time of the mass in church. Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville is handling the services.

Memorials in his memory may be directed to the Caseville American Legion.
