Wayne Brinkman

Wayne Brinkman of Caro, age 80, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 5, 2018, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Wayne was born May 19, 1938 in Bay City, the son of the late William & Bertha (Rayl) Brinkman and was a lifelong area resident. He grew up farming and graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1956. Wayne was united in marriage with the former Carol Robinson on August 15, 1959 in Caro. He continued his passion for farming, an occupation loved long after his retirement in 1984. After retirement, Wayne began a trailer fabrication business and later sold manufactured trailers, parts, hitches, vehicle accessories, and CB radios. He was a member of Sutton Sunshine United Methodist Church in Caro and the Caro Moose Lodge #1049. In his spare time, Wayne enjoyed tractor pulling, fishing, and hunting, especially in Ontonagon in the Upper Peninsula. He also enjoyed traveling, and was able to visit Alaska and Scotland. Wayne is survived by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Carol Brinkman of Caro; two children and their spouses, Jeff & Kim Brinkman of Caro, Lori and Joe Samuelson of Salt Lick, Kentucky; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three siblings and their spouses, Dorothy Keinath of Caro, Raymond & Margaret Ann Brinkman of Unionville, Herbert & Jean Brinkman of Higgins Lake; one sister- and brother-in-law, Joy & Gordon Knowles of Caro; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by a daughter, Cari Sue Neumayer; his brother and his wife, Donald & Phylis Brinkman; sister and her husband, Charlotte & Lee McComb; and step-father, Doris Hover. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at the Caro United Methodist Church with Pastor Penny Parkin officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at the Almer Township Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, National Parkinson Foundation, or the donor's favorite charity.
