Wayne W. King

Wayne W. King of Caro, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community. Wayne was born July 12, 1936 in Saginaw, the son of the late Weldon and Lula (Dunn) King. He graduated from Beecher High School in Flint. Wayne worked a few odd jobs after high school until he landed his job at General Motors as a press operator where he retired from after thirty dedicated years. In the 1970’s Wayne founded and directed the Michigan Bigfoot Information Center; hunting for Bigfoot and documenting any sightings of it was a huge passion of Wayne’s. He also loved to learn and research the history of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald and its wreck.

Wayne was an amazing artist with remarkable skill for drawing and sketching, especially when it came to Disney characters. His talent was so great, he was even offered a job at Disney to become an animation artist. In addition to his love of art, Wayne enjoyed watching football and NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt. You could often find him tending to his yard and working on his meticulous landscape. Wayne was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed dearly for years to come.

Wayne leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of nineteen years, Virjean (TerBush) King; children & their spouses, Sherrill & Wayne Natzke, Kim Miller, and Kathy & Randy Fick; step-children, Denise Dunbar, Jamie Raby, and Steve & Nicole Fox; seven grandchildren; one step-grandchild; many great-grandchildren; and half-brother, Kevin King. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his former wife, Phyllis (Carll) King; step-son, Jeffery Fox; half-brother, Karlin King.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. The family will be present to receive visitors on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at Thetford Township Cemetery in Clio. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
