Wesley H. Volz

Wesley H. Volz, age 83, of Unionville, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at McLaren Macomb in Mt. Clemens.

Wesley was born in Sebewaing on January 17, 1941 to Harlon and Rose (Schneider) Volz. He attended Kilmanagh Kindergarten, Immanuel Lutheran School and graduated from Sebewaing High School. He was confirmed in Christ at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. He married Shirley Sharp on August 17, 1968. After marriage he attended the Unionville United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee and usher.

As a teenager he worked laying tile at Luckhard Nursery. After graduating, he worked for Acme Rolled Forming as a foreman, for Sebewaing Light and Water, and retired from GM Powertrain in Bay City after 30 years in 1999. He was a member of the Caro Old Engine & Tractor Club, enjoyed his dog, Ollie, restoring his tractor, working on weed whackers, blowers, cutting lawns and attending flea markets.

Wesley is survived by his wife, Shirley; children: Rita Papp, Roxanne Logan and James Volz; grandchildren: Angela Karle & Justin Papp, Dylan and Abigail Logan and Wesley Volz; sister, Diane Jamieson; and great grandson, Case.

Services are private. Burial will be private at the Columbia Township Cemetery outside of Unionville.

Memorial donations may be given to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.
